Beauty Tips For Bathing

Beauty Tips For Bathing
By Juliet Cohen

Beauty is not only skin-deep. Bathing can be done at any time of day and is wonderfully inexpensive. Sunny radiation is in big part UVB causing fast turn of epidermus into red colour. Lamps in solarium emit UVA rays, mainly reaching to deeper skin coats. It is worth knowing, that 15 minutes spent in solarium skin will remember as whole day spent on sun. Sunbathing in solarium is completely safe.

Safe sunbathing does not exist, neither on sun neither in solarium, but it is possible to make it less risky by using certain principles. Light a scented candle or two and place them in strategic locations so the light can flicker on the water and in the mirror. An oil burner that contains essential oil can also help radiate fragrance throughout the room.

Bathing can be made a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Making the right kind of arrangements in the bathroom and adding the right kind accessories in the bathroom can make your bath refreshing and soothing. Mechanism is similar as in case of anorexia. Sick people take advantage in each chance to take just a bit of ultraviolet. Sunbathing in solarium is completely safe. Make-up can cleverly be used to achieve near perfect features, without making it apparent that you actually have a layer of foundation, powder, lipstick , eye shadow and blush on your face. Invisible make-up is the latest trick that experts are using to highlight the facial features (un)naturally. If you are one of these individuals plagued by unsightly reminders of your past blemishes, do not fear-there are many excellent types of makeup for acne scars on the market.

The first thing you should look for in any type of blemish cover up is one free of oils or chemicals that could cause additional breakouts. People spend a lot of money on their appearance. The right beauty tools on hand can make your look really spectacular. Both women and men have the clothes, accessories, make-up and hair products, and they don’t regret of the tools that make using those elements easier and more effective.

You need the right beauty tools for a really professional-looking make-up. Forget about little freebie brushes and sponges that sometimes come with your make-up. Having a small collection of essential beauty tools will help you to get a great look and to save a pretty sum of money. The price of a good set of professional tools will be a couple hundred dollars.

Brushes. Brushes are among the key tools used by make-up application professionals. If you want to get the best results of make-up, don’t use one and the same brush for all the places on your face. It’s necessary to choose the correct brushes according to your aim.

Foundation - when applying either cream or liquid foundation use a foundation brush to get a great natural finish. First, put a small spot of foundation on the back of your palm and then dip the foundation brush into that and apply the foundation with downward lines spreading out near the jaw and hairline. It’s advisable to use synthetic-bristled brushes, which are less absorbent.

Imperfections and blemishes – use a small-tipped brush for applying the right amount of concealer to cover imperfections of your skin very naturally.

Cheeks – for applying powder blush use a large brush with a dome-shaped head. One brush is good either for blush of bronzer or for a light-as-air coat of translucent face powder for a sheer effect. Professionals advise sable hair.

Eyes – apply cream or powder eye shadows with a sable brush. A dense, angled brush will make the color more vivid. For the top and bottom of your eyelids use supremely fine bristles.

Lips – to define your lips stiff synthetic lip brushes are the best choice.

Also there are some more tools necessary for your beauty. For example, a basic pair of tweezers will rid you of any undesirable facial hairs.

Don’t forget to keep your tools clean and free of bacteria. For a lot of brushes it’s available to use special brush cleaners but you can give your tools a weekly shampooing just as easily.

You know about the precious value of your skin and the need for skin care all the moment. Skin is an important sensory organ in your body, next to eyes, ears, nose and mouth. The skin is comparable to the space or sky among the Great Energies of the universe! Skin care is also similar to the care bestowed to the environmental space.

The space over the earth has great surface and indicator of the changes taking place in the body of the earth. The changes in internal structure of land, heat, water and air will affect upon the space over this Earth.

Likewise, the skin has a wide surface to reflect the changes inside the human body and as well in the body temperature, fluid conditions, purity of air inhaled and effect of light, heat, germs and pollutions in this environment.

Skin care becomes a must as the bodily changes are always influencing the skin.

1. Serious skin care becomes quite necessary when the intensity of internal and external changes is more. Natural skin conditions are changing and there is every need to protect it with serious skin care methods. After all, skin is nature’s dress code to cover up and protect the internal structure.

This could seem to be general and overall process of skin care. Serious skin care is meant both for men and women and young and old. This relates to great concern for skin health for total humanity.

2) Beauty skin care is to protect the natural beauty of your skin at every vulnerable part with an idea to boost up the inherent splendor. The skin should be clean and smooth where it is seen outside. Again the skin should be in very hygienic condition where it is in hide.

Beauty skin care principles are adopted, where ever beauty is expressively exhibited. Face and neck, arms and legs are the prime important body parts meant for beauty skin care.

The body as a whole needs such a treatment for a smooth and shiny skin care. There are beauty skin care methods and products are widely available as beauty of men and women are guarded as a matter of charisma and luster.

3) The organic skin care products are developed in traditional ways especially with organic or herbal ingredients like sandal and turmeric. One releases fine aroma while the other is a natural antiseptic.

In organic skin care, botanically sourced ingredients are collected, blended and converted into paste, cream or oil and applied on the surface of the skin suitably to keep it cool. These cosmetics have some times milk, eggs, flowers or oils in combination with the organic creams.

Improve Your Beauty Using Aromatherapy - Healing Your Skin Naturally

Trends in health and beauty are placing more trust in the efficacy of natural and organic ingredients. Skin care is no exception, with more women coming to realize the purity of what they put on their skin is as important as that of what they eat. The skin is the largest organ, and is generally permeable to substances placed on it. This is particularly important in healing wounds, for the skin may be broken and more sensitive. Enter essential oils; these powerful plant derived medicines have been used for many years for treating skin conditions, enhancing beauty and promoting wellness. Oils have been found particularly useful for regenerating skin that has suffered from accidents or surgery, or has their remaining signs in the form of keloid, acne, or other scars. Certain essential oil blends can speed healing time, reduce or eliminate scars from recent wounds and even greatly diminish the appearance of old ones.

There are a few primary essential oils used in skin care which offer their regenerative properties; these oils can be used in low concentrations, and are generally well-tolerated - certainly more so than many synthetic ingredients. The most important of these may be Helichrysum italicum, also known as Everlasting oil. This wonderful oil is distilled from the daisy-like flowers of the herb. It has a lovely earthy aroma and, despite it's apparent expense, works in very low concentrations (only a few drops per tablespoon of your total blend). Helichrysum is strongly anti-inflammatory and contains powerful regenerative molecules unique to this oil only.

Helichrysum essential oil is the cornerstone for many blends for healing the skin, and is the only one necessary for supporting currently healing skin damage - it should be used at appropriate concentrations with Rosehip Seed and Hazelnut oils, as mentioned later in this article. As noted by well-known aromatherapists Kurt Schnaubelt, "The triple unsaturated fatty acids (of Rosehip Seed oil) strengthen the cell membranes and, combined with the regnerative qualities of Everlasting oil (Helichrysum), heal wounds with minimal or no scarring".

Lavender essential oil the most commonly used aromatic oil due to it's pleasant, soothing aroma and broad range of healing effects. Lavender is also included in many skin care blends as it also contains ketone molecules which stimulate tissue regeneration. The specific type of lavender oil is distilled from the flowers of the Lavendula angustifolia species. Lavender, also like helichrsum, is an anti-inflammatory, and is generally thought to bring synergy to essential oil blends. It can be included to almost any skin care blend to enhance the effects and aroma.

The essential oil distilled from common Sage leaves is also used in the healing of scars, particularly old or unsightly scars. It's natural regenerative properties and ability to promote circulation aid in gently breaking down the tough skin resulting from wound healing. Sage oil should only be used in these instances and in small quantities, as it's Thujone content can be toxic in high quantities. If used in a recipe for stretch marks (see below), it should only be used post-partum. Despite it's powerful components, however, when diluted and used with respect, one can use this oil safely.

Rosemary will be the final essential oil we'll mention here for scar treatment. For the skin, Rosemary of the Verbenone chemotype has many important properties - it contains regenerative ketone molecules, and stimulates cellular metabolism. This oil helps new skin form, bringing nutrients into the cells and supports the removing toxins and wastes.

The essential oils mentioned here must be diluted in a carrier oil for daily application. In aromatherapy, more is not better! There have been numerous studies showing the great efficacy of essential oils in low concentrations based in seed or nut carrier oils. The two most commonly used base oils for skin care are Rosehip seed and Hazelnut oils. Rosehip seed has many documented uses in skin care, with it's triple-unsaturated fatty acids and it's vitamin A compounds. Rosehip seed has the ability to support tissue regeneration like Retin A, but without the drying or redening side effects. Hazelnut oil is the most well tolerated of all the carrier oils, and with its mild astringent properties, can even be used in cases of very oily skin. It will tend to leave the skin feeling nourished without feeling greasy.

Now for the recipes. For effective wound healing of recent cuts and scrapes (and has been used successfully on surgical incisions), to 1 ounce Hazelnut oil and 1 ounce Rosehip seed oil add 1 milliliter of Helichrysum essential oil and 1 milliliter of Lavender essential oil - apply twice a day for 7 to 10 days. For older scars from wounds or acne, including keloid scars, replace the Lavender in the previous recipe with Sage essential oil. Apply regularly for 3 to 6 months. For the healing of stretch marks, post partum, use 1 ounce Rosehip seed and 1 ounce Hazelnut oil with 1 milliliter Sage essential oil and 2 milliliters with Rosemary Verbenone essential oil; again use for 3 to 6 months.

This is a summary of a particular aspect of using essential oils for natural health, wellness and beauty. These are effective, tried and true recipes used for their specific, wound healing applications. With some research, you will find there are wonderful recipes using essential oils for a broad range of skin care applications - they work, and they're heavenly to use! As with all aromatherapy use, go slowly, watch for any (rare) skin reactions, and remember that less is more with essential oils - almost all have been noted to work in very low, well tolerated concentrations.

Beauty Sleep

Beauty Sleep
Submitted By: Kadence Buchanan

People suffer from extremely busy days that usually lead to extremely "busy" nights. Instead of going to sleep, the vast majority of today's working professionals select to do something else, like watching TV until the early morning hours instead of sleeping properly, due to stress and anxiety problems. But, one should keep in mind that sleep is a necessity, not a luxury. Having a good night's sleep is just as crucial to maintaining wellness as is following a healthy diet and performing the proper amount of exercise.

Apart from being a healing process, sleep is also an invigorating one. Researchers examining the human brain while asleep have found that it is cycling through three stages of sleep; light, deep and REM. During these stages the human organism gets restored, it rejuvenates and it also becomes stronger. In addition, the human immune system gets recharged, as cells grow and repair themselves, and the human body conserves energy that will be needed later while a person is again awake.

Unfortunately, due to the heavy schedules and the daily problems people have to face, many do not value their bodies' sleeping needs. Nowadays, as everything stays open later than in the past, many individuals select to sacrifice their night's sleep for another dance at the local club, a late-night movie, a work project due or a few more hours of exercise in the gym. Instead of investing this time available to sleep and provide to their organism time to heal, people prefer to do other activities that seem more important or interesting. What they may not realize is that lack of sleep takes a toll on their mental and physical well-being. According to various studies, like the one the National Sleep Foundation performs frequently, even minimal sleep loss has a profoundly detrimental impact on mood, cognition, performance, productivity, communication skills, accident rates and general health status. Thus, it is important for people to know that for optimal functioning throughout the day, the average adult needs between seven to nine hours of sleep during the night.

But, some people lack their normal sleeping patterns not because of choice, but due to a condition. Million of people worldwide for example, suffer from insomnia today. For these people, using medication-whether based on a doctor's prescription or not-is crucial to aid their night's sleep. Thus, if one suspects that the problems she or he has sleeping could be linked to a health condition like insomnia, it is imperative to visit a doctor's office, if the following tips do not bring sleep back into their lives.

- Avoid caffeinated food and beverages, like coffee, teas, chocolate, and soft drinks, for at least three hours before bedtime. Instead try a cup of warm milk.

- Exercise regularly, but do not perform any workout before bedtime for at least three hours.

- Check the mattress and be sure it supports your whole body. Flip it periodically.

- Develop a ritual before bedtime and perform it daily. Warm baths, reading, listening to soft calming music, are some of the things that can relax your mind and let it rest.

- Sleep in a quiet and comfortable room. Noise, light, temperature can reduce your sleep duration and quality.

- Go to bed and wake up the same time every day. When your sleep cycle has a regular rhythm you will feel better.

Preserving Health And Beauty In Pregnancy

Preserving Health And Beauty In Pregnancy

Most women think that it's okay to stop exerting effort in looking beautiful during pregnancy but it's not. Pregnancy is a time when your hormones are in a rage. It is easy to be overwhelmed by new feelings, sensations, and changes in your body that make you feel not in control. Taking care of your pregnant self lets you be in control and preserve your health and beauty. It's not easy to look in a mirror with disheveled hair and dry, blotchy skin. It's also frustrating to try and fit yourself in your pre-pregnant outfits. Get rid of the idea that this is normal. What's normal is a pregnant woman embracing and enjoying her pregnancy by taking care of her body, her health and beauty.

Studies by the MRC/US Anxiety and Stress Disorders Research Unit show that babies born of happy mothers are healthier -- they are heavier, more active, and agreeable. They also absorb more nutrients from their first feedings which are essential for their nourishment. Happy mothers are also found to produce better-quality milk for their babies. Negative emotions increase the risk of developing post-pregnancy depression. This affects how a mother bonds and cares for her newborn. The best way to ward off this negativity is to preserve your health and beauty.

First, follow a healthy diet under the specifications of your doctor. Do not assume that the diet your other pregnant friend follows is right for you. Your health and beauty needs are unique. You may have deficiencies or skin care needs, which your friend's diet cannot address. Second, take supplements and vitamins according to your doctor's instructions. Never take drugs or any form of medicine without your doctor's approval. It may have adverse effects on your baby. Third, exercise lightly to avoid gaining excess weight. Expectant mothers normally gain 15-20 pounds; anything higher than that can give you a difficult delivery. Fourth, get adequate sleep and rest. Nothing is more stressful than sleepless nights because of hormones and restlessness. Make up for lost sleep during the day; your body tells you when it needs some shut-eye.

Of course, a pregnant woman's health and beauty are not limited to her physical needs. Her emotional and psychological well-being are just as important. You know that nothing boosts your confidence than being thought of and complimented as beautiful. You can easily get that goddess feeling again through modern maternity fashion. Take all those loose, tent-like dresses your mother-in-law lent you. Contemporary maternity designers are coming out with new designs that showcase your pregnant body rather than hiding it. Take advantage of your fuller cleavage and wear lower necklines. Show off your pregnant belly in stretch tops that hug your curves in solid colors. Avoid hiding in busy prints and opt for simple, understated accents and accessories. Change your hairstyle -- pregnancy is a perfect excuse to try the new pixie cut. Keep your posture straight and your feet pretty in fun flats and funky mules.

Health and beauty are essentials for a pregnant woman. Take care of yours to be better-equipped in caring for your baby. Treat your pregnancy as your time to shine with natural health and beauty. Staying healthy and beautiful during pregnancy is not only easy; it is the best thing you can do for yourself and your baby.

Woman's Beauty Naturally – The Grace Of Essential Oils In Skin Care

Woman's Beauty Naturally – The Grace Of Essential Oils In Skin Care

Using natural botanical skin care is a wonderful experience. With uplifting aromatic essential oils and other natural carrier ingredients, it is easy to nourish the skin in a very special way. While dramatic effects can sometimes be had using synthetically created products, natural botanical blends can bring about a lasting healthy glow free from the possibility of side-effects.

Simple-to-make essential oil mixtures will use some formula of aromatic oils from plants and flowers, based in a carrier oil, usually cold pressed from seeds or nuts. Balanced aromatherapy blends offer the therapeutic healing effects of essential oils and the nutritive essential fatty acids of the carriers. Creating your own mixtures is a fun, rewarding and money-saving endeavor; you need only a bottle or two for the mixing, and an eye-dropper to dispense the essential oils.

Several essential oils and carriers are held in high-esteem for their regenerative and nutritive properties. With only a small collection of oils, you can make highly-effective recipes applicable to particular skin conditions such as premature aging, UV and other damage, acne-prone skin and more.

Some of the more important aromatherapy oils used in beauty and skin formulas for both men and women include: Helichrysum italicum – a potent skin metabolism stimulator and strong anti-inflammate (inflammation at a cellular level is associated with nearly all skin damage and premature aging). Rosemary essential oil of the Verbenone chemotype – this serves a similar function to the oil of the Helichrysum flowers, increasing skin metabolism and enhancing the removal of cellular waste material. True Lavender, or Lavendula angustifolia, is also a strong anti-inflammate and skin regenerator with a lovely relaxing aroma – it lowers tension in addition to directly treating the skin cells, furthering natural beauty. The oil distilled from the Wild Carrot seed (also known as Queen Anne's Lace) is very regenerating, bringing life to tired, lifeless skin resulting from high-stress and toxic environments. Palmarosa is considered a 'wonder oil' because of it's brilliant aroma and strong yet gentle antiseptic properties; Niaouli is another essential oil commonly recommended for the same reasons, in addition to it's ability to tighten and firm the skin.

This is only a few of the many essential oils included in skin formulas, though these are considered among the most important for their broad range of effects. Almost any essential oil can be added to a blend in balanced quantities. In many cases, oils are added as much for their lovely aroma as their direct therapeutic benefits to skin tissue. Many aromatherapists, and natural health professionals for that matter, consider the overall mental and emotional condition to be of primary importance in creating an appearance of fitness and beauty. Many citrus and floral oils are used for this reason – Neroli, distilled from the flowers of the bitter orange tree, is an often used example. Others are Jasmine, Sandalwood (very popular in Men's skin care), Geranium and Ylang Ylang.

Essential oils, be they for direct effects on skin metabolism, or for the overall state of wellness of the user, will be diluted in a carrier oil, sometimes known as a base oil. It is important to note that diluting the oils will often actually enhance their effects; essential oils are often too strong to be used directly, and many studies have shown increased efficacy in dilutions down to 1% or less of the total formula. The carrier oils serve several other functions as well; they "carry" the essential oils into the skin, increasing their total absorption. They also nourish the middle and lower layers of the skin with essential fatty acids or EFA's – compounds now considered critical to the health of all living tissues. Further, some carrier oils have vitamin analogs which assist in skin regeneration and repair.

Some of the carrier oils often found in skin formulations include Hazelnut, Rosehip seed, and Evening Primrose. Hazelnut is a very gentle oil with little aroma of it's own, and being suitable for virtually all skin types, it use used in a vast number of blends as the primary carrier. To this, Rosehip seed oil is added for it's concentration of triple-unsaturated fatty acids, and it's natural trans-retinoic acid; a vitamin-A compound similar in effects to Retin-A without drying side effects. Evening Primrose is often also included in lower concentrations for it's high levels of GLA or gamma-linolenic acid, and is considered important in cases of eczema and skin showing signs of premature aging.

Making your own blends with these ingredients is truly a fun and rewarding experience – you only need a bottle to mix them in, and some means of counting out drops of essential oil. An eye dropper works wonderfully, and graduated plastic pipettes are readily available. A basic blend to begin with, which is designed for overall health of the skin, is made thusly: to one ounce of Hazelnut Oil, add fifteen drops Thyme Linalool, fifteen drops Rosemary Verbenone, fifteen drops Neroli (or a high-quality Petitgrain if you prefer – it is much less expensive with many of the same properties), and fifteen drops Spike Lavender (a Lavender with strong antiseptic qualities – a little more 'medicinal' than the sweeter True lavender). This blend was originally formulated to clear up oily skin, but is now used to support normal skin in daily application.

If your skin has been chemically damaged, is overly-sensitive, or otherwise 'weakened' with broken capillaries, try this mixture, applying frequently: For each ounce of base oil, use three parts Hazelnut, one part Rosehip Seed, and one part Evening Primrose. Add the following essential oils: fifteen drops Moroccan Chamomile, fifteen drops Helichrysum, fifteen drops true Lavender, and fifteen drops Roman Chamomile. The Helichrysum, Lavender and Rosehip seed will enhance the skin's own natural metabolism, and the addition of the Chamomiles will greatly reduce inflammation that is found with almost all damage and/or aging.

If your skin is prone to acne, or has over-active sebaceous glands, the following blend can be of great assistance. It contains regenerative, antiseptic, and cleansing oils. Simply use Hazelnut as the base, and to each ounce include fifteen drops of Green Myrtle or Inula graveolens, fifteen drops Eucalyptus dives (because of the ketones in this oil, it should not be used if pregnant – or under 10 years of age – but is otherwise considered safe), fifteen drops Spike Lavender, and fifteen drops Rosemary verbenone.

If your skin doesn't have particular damage to it, but appears lifeless due to exhaustion and/or exposure to significant amounts of pollution or environmental toxins, this is the blend for you. Use one part Rosehip Seed and 4 parts Hazelnut as the base. To each ounce, include fifteen drops Carrot Seed (also known as Wild Carrot or Queen Anne's Lace – a well known skin restorative), fifteen drops Lemon verbena (which enhances the removal of toxins from skin tissues), fifteen drops Niaouli (an all-around brilliant antiseptic oil with firming effects), and fifteen drops Rosemary verbenone (again, for it's regenerative and stimulating effects). If you are wishing to strengthen, tighten, and firm your skin, try this dilute mixture (the concentration of essential oils is relatively low here for use near the eyes) five ounces of Hazelnut oil and one ounce of Rosehip seed oil, fifteen drops of Green Myrtle, fifteen drops of Rock Rose (a plant grown in very sun-drenched areas, excellent for gently tightening the skin). If you like, add fifteen drops of Rosemary verbenone for it's regenerative properties, but omit if this causes sensitivity used near the eyes.

These are only a few aromatherapy skin care recipes for a woman's natural beauty medicine chest. There are many texts available to help you create more complex blends, or one's with your favorite aromatics. Blending your own facial and skin formulas is easy, rewarding, and in the long run, cost-effective. Using natural botanicals in a consistent, mindful manner can lead to long-lasting, noticeable natural health of your skin. Just remember with aromatherapy, essential oil concentrations should be kept low for best results – pay attention to how your own body reacts and you're sure to find the ingredients and measures most effective for you!

Sexy Beauty Secrets For A Fraction Of Salon Prices

Sexy Beauty Secrets For A Fraction Of Salon Prices

Probably bigger than her car, what do you think is the biggest outlay of every modern woman? Yes – you’ve guessed it. Health and Beauty products. Not that men don’t have fingernails and toenails, hair all over their head (mostly), diet weight control issues, confidence issues, because they do – it’s just that men seem better at burying their heads in the sand and hoping the problems go away. They definitely do not seem keen on being seen having manicures, pedicures, facials, and such (even though they may secretly desire to have such pampering, their so-called masculinity inhibits them).

For a man, all I can say is thank goodness most women don’t have this problem, and do their level best to bring out their natural inner beauty to brighten up everybody’s lives, even though they normally do it by spending a fortune in health and beauty stores, health and beauty magazines, and usually quite expensive health and beauty treatments. Even when it comes to the hairdresser, a man will baulk at paying peanuts for a trim, where a woman may spend nearly a week’s wages at her favorite hairdresser.

However, there is really no need for such fortunes to be paid over to hairdressers, health and beauty stores, expensive health and beauty magazines, even expensive diet weight control systems, to achieve this exterior beauty that really comes from within every person.

So many of the things can be achieved from the comfort of your own home, using health and beauty products, simple home recipes, so that even usually expensive treatments can be complimented at home.

But with all of these treatments comes a by-product that is virtually priceless, and really explains why such fortunes are handed over every day to the professionals in these expensive salons. With such treatments comes that inner confidence that is born within us all, but is so easily suppressed by the stresses and strains of every day living.

For instance, do you remember the last time you were in the checkout line at your local supermarket, and there was a baby in its cart just in front of you, and it laid there looking at you, with a smile bubbling over with its sparkling little eyes – as if they had always known you? How does that make you feel? You simply can’t resist smiling back, and even pass the time in the queue talking to them.

Now apply the same technique to adults. If an adult has the inner confidence so that they could smile at you with sparkling eyes, how would that affect you? It would almost certainly push your confidence though the roof, and with any luck, you would do the same to the next person you met.

But – you are right – not everybody can afford to indulge in the wide range of beauty treatments, dietary and weight loss control, exercise regimes that are probably necessary for anybody to achieve this all-round sense of well-being and confidence.

So, we all need to define the main areas that our bodies (and our minds) need a bit of Tender Loving Care (TLC to you), and whether you are male or female, these are the most common areas that demand our attention (and usually our money).

• Skin Care Tips – including skin treatments, acne, foot care, and tanning.

• Hair Care Tips – more for women than men, but even they suffer from dry or oily hair and dandruff from time to time.

• Make-up tips – really the province of women, as the men luckily don’t usually have to pay out fortunes in make up ( or – Oh yes they do actually - on their loved ones)

• Exercise – getting motivated here to start, and then continue, is so important for building up everybody’s self esteem, and their health.

• Nutrition and Self Help – we really all need to understand the maxim ‘ what we are is what we eat ‘ and if you eat junk food – what does that make you?

• Weight Loss control – what is the biggest killer and destroyer of lifestyle in Western society, but obesity and its side effect diabetes.

Now, anyone of us could quite easily march into a number of expensive salons, select a personal assistant, and get all of these quite necessary pamperings provided on a plate, but we would have to work a darned sight harder and longer to be able to afford them.

So, what do we do? We know we need something like this to survive the stresses and strains of the modern world, but many of us just can not justify the expense.

Having searched for many years for ideal solutions to all of these above issues, with the massive onset of the internet as an information provider, there are many low cost solutions available, that won’t cost you an arm and a leg, but if searched for and built into your everyday routine, can give you the inner confidence to enable you to build a happy, confident lifestyle, so you become one of these people that spread a little happiness by radiating confidence and external beauty, without having to step over the threshold of many an expensive hairdressers or beauty salon.

You never know, you could always save a great deal of money, and donate it to your favorite charity.

Wow! Would that help boost your confidence, or what?

In order to boost their business and make their target audience aware of what they are selling, baby pageants are held to determine which baby fits what category and then prizes are awarded.

Teen beauty pageant

A teen beauty pageant is one that is generally held every year, for the male and the females. The boys and girls are those who are hip, cool, natural looking, that have great grades, and that could have: great skin, a valuable hobby, care for the environment or they are involved in agricultural events. In every state, there is a Miss awarded under 18 and there is a Miss awarded for those who are over eighteen. Scholarships, money, cars, prizes and such are often times given away for those involved in teen beauty pageants.

Adult beauty pageants are not limited to those such as the Miss America, or the Miss World, there are also Mrs. USA, and Mrs. pageants for about every state. There are also teacher beauty pageants, business hold pageants for locals only, and there are others that are based on those who are nominated by another.

Additionally there are more types of beauty pageants held every year, and you may just want to enter one. There are the muscle builder's pageants, there are bikini contests, and there are contests that are based on local communities offering prizes for beauty pageants for those who are in all types of age ranges. There are even pageants for those who are cute, beautiful, funny, comical, daring, outrageous and so on, for promotions of just about every product out there. If you want to win, you have to enter.

A beauty pageant can be based on beautiful legs, fingers, the face, the butt, and the muscles, just about anything! If you want to get involved in a beauty pageant you are sure to find one that will give you the best time of your life while entering to win!

Detoxify Your Way To Health And Beauty

Detoxify Your Way To Health And Beauty
Submitted By: Elizabeth Gilley

How many times have your brain felt so sluggish that you can't even think clearly? How many times have you felt so tired that even climbing a single flight of stairs takes a lot from you? Or how about those times when you felt so unpretty that even your best outfit can't lift your mood? You've tried every known trick to stay fit and scoured every shelf in the health and beauty aisle for that wonder product that could revive you but still to no avail. Why not try looking at home and the produce section of your grocery? What am I talking about? I'm talking about detox.

Detoxification is not merely sweating buckets on the gym or starving yourself with a water diet. It is a wholistic approach to health and beauty. It encompasses everything from diet, fitness, and your sense of well-being. Try it for a weekend and start the new week with a renewed and more revived you. Detoxifying your way to health and beauty is possible with a few things which you could conveniently find in your home. With a loofah or brush, scented candles, aromatic oils, herbal tea, and a free, me-time weekend, you're all set to rejuvenate and renew yourself.

Start on a Friday by eating light (think salads and fruits) and drink lots of water the whole day. At night, slowly dry-massage yourself with a loofah or brush with slow and long strokes. Move in one direction: upward and towards your groin. Refresh yourself with tea or water then soak in a bath of warm water and drops of aromatic bath oil. Light some scented candles while gradually adding cool water within a half hour until your bath becomes slightly cold. This is the beginning of your new health and beauty routine. This process is done for the stimulation of the blood vessels. Dry yourself and dress warmly for bed.

Begin the next day by drinking hot lemon water. Go for a walk while breathing deeply. Give yourself a steam bath or go swimming. You could also ask your partner or therapist for a massage. Again, end your health and beauty detox regimen with a dry-massage brush and bath. Spend your Sunday, doing the whole process but add another activity. Make a list of people or things, such as your work, that are toxic to you (read: bad vibes). Assess how you should deal with them to lessen their toxic effect. After this, pamper yourself or do meditation exercises.

Be reminded though that you may experience excessive sweating, slight headaches, and skin rashes. These are signs that your body is releasing toxins and that they are temporary. Detoxifying is effective, safe, and inexpensive enough to be part of your weekly health and beauty routine. Just remember to avoid this during your period, pregnancy, and sickness. Lastly, talk to your doctor if you encounter any problem while detoxifying.

In the past, women relied on natural beauty treatments from the ingredients found in their kitchen or gardens. Products created from natural ingredients available at home have essential vitamins, minerals, nutrients and healing properties that work with your body to heal and protect the skin naturally without any cosmetic cover ups.

The basic rule for home made beauty care -

- Keep the recipe simple. Avoid ingredients that you have unpleasant side effects on your skin.
- Sterilize and dry all the equipments and containers.
- Make small batches of the product that you would use each day.
- If you smell any thing rotten or bad, throw out the concoction.
- Do a patch test before trying out any home made beauty recipes to avoid nasty side effects.
- Hygiene and cleanliness is all important.
- Create natural home facial mask at home, keeping in mind your skin type.

Natural Home Facial for Oily Skin - Despite its disadvantages, oil skin is boon in the long run as wrinkles, lines, etc take time to show up than they would on the dry skin making you look younger than your peers. Though one still has to take proper care for oily skin with the right skin care products.

- Peppermint facial - Peppermint dissolves excess oil and gives cool refreshing sensation to the skin. It cleans the pores and kills bacteria that cause acne. Use pure peppermint essential oil. Mix 1 tbsp milk, 1 drop of peppermint oil, 3 tsp distilled water, 2-3 tbsp kaolin to make a soft smooth paste. Apply the peppermint mask on your face. Relax and let the mask harden. After the mask is completely tightened, gently peel and rub off the mask.

Natural Home Facial for Normal Skin - Having a normal skin does not mean that you should avoid taking care for it. Cleanse tone and moisturize your skin daily so your skin will stay healthy for years to come and make you look younger than your peers.

- Peppermint and Lavender oil facial mask - To relieve your self from tensions and headache, peppermint and lavender duo come handy. The natural facial mask relaxes the facial muscles. Mix 1 tsp jojoba or any carrier oil in a bowl with 1 drop of peppermint and lavender essential oils. Add 3 tsp distilled water, 2-3 tbsp kaolin to a smooth spreadable paste. Apply the face mask. Relax and wait for the mask to dry. Peel off solid pieces of hardened mask and use plenty of water to cleanse your face from the rest of the mask.

Natural Home Facial for Dry Skin - The honey and banana combo makes a good facial for dry skin. Honey leaves the skin hydrated with its hydrating properties and bananas with hordes of vitamins, calcium and other essential nutrients keep the skin smooth and soft. The bananas should not be overripe. Mash 1 small banana. Add 1 tsp of honey to it and mix well. Apply this on your face and leave it on for 10 -15 minutes. Wash off with lots of water afterwards.

The quest for beautiful skin and hair is prevalent among women. You can make inexpensive, natural beauty and hair treatments from ingredients you have in your home that will perform just as well or better than products you purchase in the store.

If you only have one natural beauty remedy in your pantry, make it Olive Oil. It's extremely versatile and can be used on every part of your body.

Olive oil is excellent for removing mascara. It's much better than petroleum jelly or baby oil and is beneficial to the skin around your eyes.

Use a few drops of olive oil in warm water for a wonderful at-home manicure. Apply your favorite lotion afterwards to lock in the moisture.

Beeswax and olive oil melted and poured into a small tin makes wonderful lip balm that will keep your lips soft and smooth.

Dry feet can be healed after one night of this treatment. Before bed, rub olive oil into your dry, cracked feet. Do not rinse. Then, put a cozy pair of socks on and go to sleep. Your feet will drink in the moisture and feel much better by morning.

Add a few drops of olive oil to your bath water for the best skin softener you can imagine. And, if you're feeling extra decadent, then add a few drops of essential oil for a natural aromatherapy bath.

A very small amount of olive oil applied to dry hair will condition and get rid of frizz. This is a great leave-in conditioner.

Olive oil can also work as a shaving cream for men with sensitive skin.

Don't buy those expensive Sea Salt Scrubs. Make your own. Just add sea salt to olive oil and you've got a sea salt scrub that will feel like heaven. Add a drop of essential oils if you'd like your scrub scented.

Please use caution when using olive oil in your bathtub as it will get quite slippery and you don't want to fall.

It is not necessary to pay a lot of money for beauty treatment products. The things you have in your very own kitchen can often be the best beauty products available.

Physical Beauty - Care Of The Hands

Physical Beauty - Care Of The Hands
Submitted By: Michael Fortomas

NO hands, as one authority on female beauty has declared, "reveal every hidden secret of the soul .... in their shape, texture and color" ? We doubt it. But they reveal themselves quickly enough as beautiful or the reverse. What is beauty of hand ? It is not so much the shape, just as in hair it is not the color, which counts here. Texture, skin quality and skin tint, the manner in which the hands are used, the nails, these determine their beauty. Nothing will give away your age quicker than the condition of your hands. Let’s take a look at some tips to try and hold off the ravages of time.

Care is what produces beautiful hands. If you are not your own manicurist then visit a professional one every week. Protect your hands against water by using gloves, rubber or canvas. Always have a cut of lemon handy to the sink. Whether you have a "psychic" or a merely plebeian hand, lemon juice removes stains, whitens the skin and cleans the nails. Vaseline, which keeps the nails from growing brittle, also makes up for the drying effect of hot dishwater. Dish washing should always be followed by a vaseline or cold cream application. Always wear gloves when gardening, and use vanishing cream on them before you expose them to the bright sunshine or cold. A cold cream application before retiring and cotton gloves should accompany chapped hands into bed.

Red Hands.—When red hands are not caused by some trouble which calls for a doctor's care, use
a good rich, cream massage, for it will help circulation if bad circulation is the reason. A mere
surface redness may be treated by rubbing in some standard skin food, after washing with hot water and soap, and leaving it overnight.

The Ideal Hand.—The ideal hand has smooth, tapering fingers. If you have square or knotty fingers give them treatment for pressing out the ends. A soft, white skin, a firm palm, firm and supple wrists and well-kept nails and fingers are all possible of attainment by manicuring, massage and constant cleanliness. Hands should be neither too fat nor too thin. Regular diet in the first place, then massage and special exercises are correctives. This applies as well to fat wrists. Remember that, like the ideal face and figure, the ideal hand is only relatively so. There is a different style of hand for nearly every style of being, and there are as many different hands as there are face beauties.

Gloves.—Tight gloves will make your palms perspire, give your hands a pudgy look, and, if you
wear them right along, will turn the hands red and mottled. Red hands often result from continual wearing of tight-fitting gloves. And—if you do not chemically clean your gloves after each wearing—your hands will grow dirty as soon as you put them on. Gloves which are not perfectly clean chap and coarsen the skin texture of the hand, and at times cause infections

A narrow palm is supposed to be a sign of a feeble temperament, one lacking imagination. A
fairly generous palm shows imagination and a nature capable of greatly enjoying physical pleasures. Too large, broad and pronounced a palm denotes egoism and sensuality. Hard, thick palms, out of proportion to the rest of the hand, show an animal nature, void of intelligence. Knotty fingers mean originality, imagination and a scientific trend. Smooth, tapering fingers hint at aptitude in art and sentiment predominating over reason. Square fingers mean a sense of method and order. Spatulate fingers are a sign of ability, activity, tact and knowledge.

THE NAILS

A woman's nails should have home attention, but this should be supplemented by occasional visits
to the manicurist. Else it is impossible to keep them in perfect condition. You may use an orange
stick or an ivory pusher to push back the cuticle from the nails (after it has been softened by cold cream or vaseline), but do not cut the cuticle yourself. This had far better be left to the professional. If you use the professional cutting tools you may easily cut and scar the surface of the nail, and weeks may elapse before the scar disappears. If the cuticle be cut constantly the edges grow hard and thick.

Manicuring.—Always see to it that your orange stick is well covered with absorbent cotton or a
bit of silk. When you have shaped the external edge of the nails with a fine pair of scissors, finish with emery or a steel nail file. And always, before beginning to manicure your nails, soak them in hot soap water and cleanse with the nail brush. When you polish the nails, use paste first, and do not apply the powder till afterward. As a buffer you can use the palm of the other hand. A thorough "home" manicuring should be undertaken at least once a week.

There are many very satisfactory nail pastes and polishes on the market. A liquid polish is usually best for the nails, all the more if there is no paste foundation. Carmine, which gives a pleasing pink tint, should be the paste used. Never use the liquid varnishes which produce a sheen without the aid of the buffer. They have a deteriorating action on the nails themselves. You brush your teeth every night. It is just as easy to devote a few minutes to your nail cuticles as well.

The Nail Bleach.—A good and simple nail bleach for use beneath the free edges of the nails is made by mixing an ounce of hydrogen peroxide with a quarterounce, respectively, of ammonia and lemon juice. Before polishing the nails wash out the bleach with hot water. Keep your manicuring tools in good condition, and throw away your orange stick as soon as it roughens. For a buffer, if you do not care to use your palm, buy a buffer frame and renew the chamois skin.

Bruised Nails.—A hot water dip, with an overnight application of antiphlogiston, is good for
bruised nails. The white nail spots which often result from a bruise will fade out slowly of themselves as a rule. Their departure can be hastened, however, by application of refined pitch and myrrh in equal parts.

Nail-Bite.—The only real cure for nail biting is not to bite the nails. The application of tincture of myrrh is merely a reminder not to do so.

Follow Homemade Beauty Tips - For Beauty Is In Nature's Grips

Beautiful people of all ages have maintained that beauty is not as much reflected in the rosy, youthful look of the skin. When questioned about the secret to their beautiful skins, they have always attributed it to a healthy lifestyle and a few homemade beauty tips. Healthy lifestyle and homemade beauty tips are mostly based on the refreshing, detoxifying effects of natural and herbal products with the former fortifying the system's internal strength and the later protecting outwardly.

Homemade beauty tips, as such, are based on judicial choice of herbal ingredients for external skin care. Some home-based natural skin care tips would be as follows:

• Buttermilk/cream and yogurt make excellent skin cleansers. They are also excellent for giving a glowing, uniform color and skin tone. They have been used for wrinkle reduction and plumping/rejuvenating the skin. What also works great is eating salmon 2 times a week. Salmon is very high in omega-3 fatty acids and is great for your skin and nervous system (it is interesting to note that salmon and spinach are 2 of the best superfoods).

• After-bath application of almond oil is undoubtedly a great treat for the skin - the suppleness and glow it brings to the skin is unmatched by even the very best of moisturizers. Almond oil in conjunction with a TCA peel is currently used by many physicians and dermatologists. The almond oil increases the healing time and actually makes the results even better. Apply every 2-3 months for maximum results. TCA peels are now available for in home use at tremendous savings (please see the link below for more details).

• Regular application of honey or yogurt makes the skin soft and has a gentle bleaching effect. This really does work, but can take 8-10 applications to see visible results.

• Sea salt/sugar mixed with olive oil works as an extraordinary at-home body exfoliation preparation. Basically this will yield a good miscroderm abrasion treatment when applied properly. Apply once per month.

• Different natural and herbal products like Aloe Vera, Basil, Chamomile, Lavender, Marshmallow, Neem, Oatmeal, Sandalwood, Tea tree oil, Turmeric, Witch Hazel, etc. used as facial packs often help to dispose dead cells and impurities lodged in the skin to unclog pores. Side by side playing the roles of cleansers, the natural processes of these herbal products and elements strike the water-oil balance of the skin and help restore its natural pH - good for reducing acne bacteria and similar skin conditions.

If you find it too troublesome to go for natural skin treatments, the safest choice will be the TCA peels. The ready-to-be-used medically approved TCA peels have an answer for almost all skin problems - right from acnes to wrinkles and skin pigmentations to dryness. With long lasting effects, TCA peels give back the skin its natural healthfulness. With no harmful side effects (nearing the gentleness of homemade beauty tips), TCA peels can be safely used for teen-age skin problems.

Two is undoubtedly 'company' but three is not always 'crowd'. TCA peels, balanced diets and a few homemade beauty tips make enviable company when it comes to revitalizing the skin. Especially the above mentioned combination of almond oil and the TCA peel. I have used this myself and experienced a rejuvenation similar to taking 15 years off - simply amazing. Therefore, surrender to the cares of the threesome and be the proud possessor of a youthful skin and look!

Beauty Tips for Women Over 50

Beauty Tips for Women Over 50
By Juliet Cohen

Beautiful skin, a beautiful body and a beautiful sense of style does not have an end once you hit 50s. There’s very little difference between the recommended diet and exercise habits for a 20-year-old and that of a 50-year-old. In fact, the only difference is that a healthy diet and regular exercise are more important than ever. During the aging process, the key to keeping your body properly functioning and in shape is to eat healthy and stay active.

At 50 and older, most adults are still capable of completing most exercises. Exercising can mean taking daily 40 minutes walk with your partner or alone, enjoying exercise videos at home. Botox injections can ease wrinkles in the upper third of the face. Chemical peels are effective in removing fine lines and smoothing skin, especially around the eyes and mouth. Wrinkle fillers can plump up your skin and erase lines.

Women over 50 usually look better with a cream lipsticks rather than a matte or gloss and in a pinch your lipsticks can double as a blush. Lips tend to lose definition and color, and become thinner with age. One of the great makeup tricks for aging skin is using a neutral lip liner to add plumpness with a sheer lipstick to avoid feathering (we like berries and browns). Use a lip liner to help define lips. Try a lip liner whose color is very close to the natural shade of your lips and both line and fill in the lips with this pencil prior to using your lip color. Carry a stash of different lipsticks in daring shades in your purse for different occasions, outfits, and moods. Use makeup to accentuate your positive qualities and make yourself feel great.

Women Over 50 and Beauty Tips

1. Using heavy makeup and powders does not compliment dryer skin.

2. Heavily powdered skin will make your skin look matte and dry.

3. Just as the pigment in our hair changes and it turns grey, the melanin in our skin changes also.

4. Don't give into the idea that you have to own every new color that is fashionable for a particular season.

5. Use a humidifier. Use moisturizing soaps and lotions.

6. Good nutrition helps the body repair skin.

7.Drinking lots of water helps hydrate skin from the inside out.

8. Use products with SPF 15 or higher, and both UVB and UVA protection.

Seven Secrets To A More Beautiful And Fairer Skin

Seven Secrets To A More Beautiful And Fairer Skin
by Sharon Bell

If you want a rosy, soft, and young-looking skin, you have to work hard for it. You need to pay attention to what you eat, and what you put on your face to help ensure that your skin becomes as beautiful and soft as that of a baby.

People with lots of money to spend can always go under the knife and have a facelift, a series of microdermabrasion sessions, some Botox injections and other cosmetic procedures that will help prevent skin aging and maintain a youthful glow.

However, for those who only have a limited budget, there are other ways to achieve that healthy-looking and blemish-free skin. All you have to do is read and follow the seven secrets to maintaining a beautiful and young-looking skin enumerated below:

Drink Up And Be Merry

One of the signs of dehydration is dry and flaky skin. Thus, if you do not want to have dry, scaly and wrinkly skin, you have to ensure that you are properly hydrated. It is advisable to drink at least eight glasses of water everyday. If it is hot or you sweat a lot, you need to increase your water intake.

We all know that toxins are flushed out from our body through sweat and urine. Without proper hydration, accumulated waste products and toxins will find a way out of your body through your skin. Many skin problems, including acne and infections, are caused by your body's inability to get rid of toxins and waste products properly.

Zap Away Your Stress

If you are experiencing chronic stress, you won't be able to sleep well, you will crave for the wrong kinds of food, and you won't find time to take care of yourself. As a result, you will have poor health, dark circles around your eyes, sluggish bodily functions, and dry and older-looking skin. If you do not want to look like 30 years older than your real age, you better find ways to manage and beat stress.

Relaxation, meditation, regular exercise, Pilates, aromatherapy, soothing music, and even multivitamins can all help soothe your mind and body. However, the best way to beat stress is to have a positive mental attitude and all the support you can get from your family and loved ones.

Beauty Rest Is Best

If you want to remain ageless and beautiful, you need to have plenty of rest and sleep. When we sleep, our brain and other organs repair and restore damaged cells. If you do not sleep at least seven to eight hours a day, you are depriving your brain and body the much needed time to do their built-in restoration and rejuvenation functions.

Be Gentle On Your Skin

Many people think that by scrubbing their face roughly, they are helping remove blemishes, age spots and discoloration. Actually, intense scrubbing and scouring will not help banish dead skin cells nor bring out a beautiful and more youthful skin. Your face is very sensitive and should be dealt with as gently as possible. Forceful brushing, scrubbing and polishing of your skin will do more harm than good.

Don't Bask In The Sun

Liver spots, freckles, wrinkles and other blemishes and skin discolorations are brought about by excessive exposure to the sun, also called photo damage. With the thinning ozone layer, your skin is exposed to the damaging ultraviolet rays from the Sun. If you need to go out in the morning, you need a good pair of sunglasses and sunscreen with high SPF.

Go Green, Red And Orange

Colorful fruits and vegetables contain antioxidants that help fight sun damage and other harmful elements. You will wake up to a rosier, softer and youthful glowing skin just by increasing your intake of leafy greens, orange produce and red fruits to about five to seven times for a few weeks.

Don't Forget To Moisturize

You need natural skincare products that will help moisturize your skin. You also need products that will help fight the symptoms of skin aging. One product that can help make your skin clearer, brighter, and fairer is Lumnaderm. If you want to know more about this skincare product, just visit www.Lumnaderm.com.

Beauty of the skin starts from inside your body! Your skin needs fresh air, exercise, a proper diet, minerals and vitamins and it needs protection from the sun. Many people just put skin cream on their skin, thinking it is going to make it soft and smooth. Skin cream on the skin feels soft and smooth, but if you want your skin to benefit from that cream, you need to dampen your skin first then add the cream. The cream will help retain the moisture in the skin. Start walking and building up your muscle tone.

Muscle tone will keep your skin from looking so saggy. Keep your skin clean. Do not scrub your face. The face does not need scrubbing. And, neither does your back.

In fact, the more you scrub on it, the more acne you can get and more trauma to your skin. A warm face cloth with a non-chemical soap, patted. Then a good gentle rinse. You next dry your face by patting with a soft clean towel. You can actually not use soap on your face at all, especially if you have dry skin.

USE Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) as a perfect exfoliate for your face. A good cream should last a long time and not be expensive. Use it at night when you wash your face before going to bed. It is derived from fruit, milk and sugar cane and when used on the skin it helps remove the dead skin cells, which will give your face a much younger, fresher look. Easy, effective and cheap ways to do a mask are: Use an egg yolk and honey mask.

Just mix one egg yolk with a little honey and spread it on your face and neck. When it dries, rinse it off. It makes your skin feel very soft. Another one: Use plain egg yolk. It is good for acne, too.

Mix it up. Spread it on your face for 20 to 30 minutes. Rinse it off. Another one: Take plain egg white, beat up the egg white, and then spread it on your face until dry about 20 minutes, rinse off with water. This leaves your face refreshed and helps clean the pores.

You can make masks of many things that are right in your kitchen, such as oatmeal. Grind it up. Mix it with some skimmed milk and let it dry. Rinse well. Milk can attract bacteria so you don't want to leave it on your face.

Ancient Chinese Secrets from Ning Hua: Wrinkles Reduction Two tablespoons of fresh cucumber juice and same amount of egg white (about one egg), stir well, and then apply on wrinkles every night after cleansing. In the morning, rinse off thoroughly using warm water. Keep using for a month, your skin will be firmed, your wrinkles will disappear. Pigment Fading: 5 teaspoons fresh tomato juice with 1 teaspoon honey, apply on the pigment, rinse off thoroughly. Keep using for 10-15 days; your pigment will fade away.

Fruit Mask: Juice apple, cucumber and pear, mixed with flour, add a teaspoon of water, and stir thoroughly. Apply after cleansing, avoiding eye and mouth areas, leave on for 20 minutes and rinse off thoroughly..

Apply it gently on your face then leave for twenty minutes. Dampen cotton wool with cold milk and wipe it off. Finally, splash your face with cold water and apply light moisturizer.

Strawberries have Vitamin C and certain acidic properties they leave the skin sparkling clean. The breadcrumbs help to exfoliate dead skin while fuller's earth will tighten the pores and brandy would help to add some glow.Combination PackWith this type of skin, usually the nose and forehead are oily then the eyes and cheeks are dry. Health And Beauty Tip: Why Fat-Free Is A Beauty No-No

Health And Beauty Tip: Why Fat-Free Is A Beauty No-No
Submitted By: Rebecca Prescott

Fat free has almost become a cornerstone in many households. It is certainly something of a fixture on modern restaurant menus. And industries have catered to the fat free preoccupation by supplying foods labeled fat free and low fat, as well as herbal and medical products that block fat metabolism. But the bottom line on the beauty and health fronts, is that if you want beautiful skin with fewer wrinkles, or to speed up your metabolism, you need to eat the right kind of fats.

The benefits to your skin of eating the right fats daily are many. Beneficial fats stimulate the production of collagen, improves the blood flow in the layer below the skin that supplies nutrients for the creation of new, healthy skin cells. Poor quality blood flow here means under performing new skin cells. Fats keep the skin moist, from the inside. Fats are crucial for the absorption of the fat soluble vitamin - A, D, E, and K. And the beneficial phytonutrients like carotene, lycopene and lutein need fat to be absorbed also.

For example, eating salad with a dressing containing fats increases the absorption of these phytonutrients. A study, published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition (and referenced in Gorgeous Skin by E Angyal) found that those who ate a salad with a low fat dressing had very little alpha-carotene, beta-carotene and lycopene in blood tests taken afterwards. Those who had a full fat dressing with the salad had noticeably higher levels of these carotenes and lycopene metabolites in their blood.

Fats also help produce and regulate hormones, reduce inflammation (the right fats anyway), and prevent eczema, psoriasis, and hair loss.

According to Erica Angyal, you need about 2tbsp, or 20 grams of fats per day so the skin can lubricate itself, and so enough vitamin A can be absorbed. Vitamin A prevents premature aging.

Erica Angyal recommends olive oil, flaxseed oil, walnut oil, pumpkin seed oil, coconut oil, mustard seed oil, avocado oil, soy oil, macadamia oil, and canola oil. She suggests using extra virgin, virgin, cold pressed oils where they are available, as these are always much better quality, and the way they are processed means unhealthy chemical changes to the oils are avoided. Of the oils here, the mono unsaturated oils are olive oil, avocado oil, macadamia oil, as well as the oil from cold water fish, like swordfish, mackerel and salmon. Mono unsaturated oils can reduce wrinkles. The polyunsaturated oils are flaxseed, walnut, pumpkin seed, and canola oil. For the reasons outlined below, I would not personally use these to gain the bulk of needed daily fats. Coconut oil is a saturated fat, but extremely good for you.

Coconut Oil

I love this stuff. Not only does it have a beautiful aroma when it is good quality, cold pressed coconut oil, but it has amazing health benefits that go beyond great looking skin. Aging, including aging of the brain and skin, is associated with a process called 'peroxidation'. This simply means that free radicals remove an oxygen electron from the fats (lipids) in our cellular membranes. Ultraviolet light, from the sun, causes peroxidation in unsaturated fats, both in the laboratory and in your skin. This increases the rate at which wrinkles form.

And unsaturated fats, like regular vegetable oils, decrease the metabolic rate. Unsaturated fats suppress the response of the body's tissues to thyroid hormone. Unsaturated fats inhibit the protein digestive enzyme that forms thyroid hormone, as well as damaging the mitochondria in cells, which relates to cellular energy production. Coconut oil counteracts these unwelcome effects of unsaturated fats.

Coconut oil is incredibly versatile. Because it is so stable, it can be used in cooking without becoming hydrogenated. And it doesn't change the flavor of the food, despite its strong aroma. Coconut oil contains medium chain fatty acids. These are not stored in the cells like other fats but go directly to the liver which converts them into energy. The shorter chain length allows them to bypass the metabolic pathway that other longer chain fats need to use. Coconut oil is the only saturated fat that is good for the body.

Interestingly, Dr Mercola's website quotes an article by Dr Ray Peat in which he mentions that when so called essential fatty acids were used in patients fed intravenously, their immune systems were suppressed. Consequently, coconut oil is used instead. The only exceptions are in cases where immunosuppression is needed, such as in organ transplant patients. The essential fatty acids are the omega 3 and omega 6 polyunsaturated fatty acids. Examples are flaxseed oil, the oils of cold water fish like salmon, evening primrose oil, and sunflower oil.

5 Reasons To Keep Your Beauty Salon Reservation

5 Reasons To Keep Your Beauty Salon Reservation
Submitted By: Darla Di Grandi-Aguilera

Life is hectic; it’s true. There are so many things that demand your time and attention. Between work, kids, family and household chores, there is precious little time left over for you. So, it is completely understandable why things like salon reservations get pushed to the end of your priority list. But is it at the end of the “to do” list where your next hair trim belongs?

The answer to that question is, of course, no. There are many reasons why you should keep your salon reservation. Aside from taking a little bit of time and relaxation for yourself, which I know is not going to motivate you since all of your energy goes toward enriching the lives of others and not your own, there are many practical reasons why you should not call and cancel your next reservation.

Here are 5 Reasons:

1. Keeping up with hair maintenance saves you time. You know how it is, your hair is doing just fine until that fateful morning on which you realize that your hair is way past due for a trim. It just won’t do anything. So, after hours of trying to coerce your hair into the style that it held beautifully just yesterday you resign yourself to the fact that nothing except a haircut will fix your bad hair day. But we all know that a spur-of-the-moment haircut is hard to come by. That means that you will spend the next week or so wasting time trying to style your overgrown locks while waiting for your reservation. Only if you would have kept your original reservation. You see, getting a regular trim, even if you think you can squeeze by another week or two, prevents this mess from happening in the first place. A cut that is the perfect length and shape will be a breeze to style in the mornings, and that will save you time.

2. Keeping your reservation saves you money. If your stylist has regular opportunities to keep your hair in tip top shape, he or she will have to do less in the long run to keep you looking beautiful. If you continually let your style grow out or let your color fade, your stylist will have to do more work to bring your wayward tresses back in line again. More work equals more time, and we all know that time equals money.

3. There is never a better time than today to get your hair done. Sure, we all think that we’ll have more time next week, that our work load will be less than it is today. But does that ever really happen? Let’s face it; next week will be just as busy as this week. And when you’re busy, a little bit of R & R will give you the energy that you need to keep going.

4. Another reservation is weeks away. Why do you go to your stylist? It’s because he or she is a fantastic stylist and knows your hair inside and out. Well, if your stylist is this great with you, I’m sure there are other clients dying for your stylist’s services. If you miss this reservation, it could be weeks before you get another one.

5. Keep your reservation out of respect. When you make a reservation, your stylist carves out time from a hectic day to cater to you. If you don’t show or cancel at the last minute, your stylist will end up sitting around making no money when he or she could have filled that time slot with another guest. Canceling reservations repeatedly may cause you to be placed on a pay in advance or last minute reservation list. Or even in some cases you can get fired for missing too many reservations.

Granted, sometimes things happen that make canceling an appointment a necessity. When this is the case, be sure to give a minimum 24 business hours and reschedule as soon as you can. Not only will your stylist thank you, but your hair will as well.
