Your body needs a steady supply of blood sugar to function properly. The carbohydrates in food are converted by your body into glucose that gets absorbed into the blood stream. This is normal and sounds good. There is a problem, however, when blood sugar rises too quickly. The body then pumps out extra amounts of hormone insulin to shepherd the extra sugar that is floating around in your blood and which your cells have locked out. The body then converts the excess sugar into fat and stores it around your hips and so on.

If "Blood Sugar" and "Putting On Weight" were names of thoroughbred horses then they would both belong to the same stable and have the same trainer. So handicap both severely and speed up weight loss by slowing down blood sugar. I will repeat this because this is where your problem lies, "slow down your blood sugar." From the time you decide to lose weight do not worry about fancy diets, carbs, calories or your intake of fat. Eat heartily but sensibly.

Briefly some of the foods you should avoid eating are French fries, potato chips, and potatoes. Please avoid soft drinks at all costs. When you eat the foods I have just mentioned an acceleration of blood sugar inside your body occurs. Weight loss scientists have learnt that the so-called "diet foods" such as bran muffins, pretzels and even rice cakes make ones blood sugar rise too quickly! The cells inside your body closes the door; they will not take in more sugar than they can handle. So what happens to the excess sugar? It must go somewhere ... Unfortunately, as indicated earlier, the body converts the excess sugar into fat and this is stored on your hips, your behind, thighs and belly.

When one's blood sugar increases too rapidly, more insulin is pumped into your blood, and results in your blood sugar coming down too quickly. Consequently you soon become hungry again, light-headed and tired. You then crave a little something to chew on. To sweeten things up a bit and taking a quick catnap. It is important to get sufficient sleep, but when most people sleep, and not after meals.

Besides eating food that you can enjoy it is important to remain active, both mentally and physically. If you must eat something that is taboo, do so in moderation and not too frequently. Drink plenty of water daily. It is when you do not drink enough water that the body retains the water. So drink plenty of filtered or bottled water to flush away all the toxins.

In conclusion you are able to eat really good food and still lose weight. Modern studies have shown that one is able to eat mouth-watering food that actually slows down your blood sugar's rise so that your body is able to burn calories and not store them as fat.
